Kyler is a Sophomore in the Program on the Environment intending to double major in Environmental Studies and Political Science. He's been on GSI's Executive Team since Summer of 2017, interested in promoting new sustainability initiatives on campus and learning more about project development. He works part-time at REI in Bellevue and has also been a project leader with UW Green Greeks on the water-savings progress reporting team. His involvement with these activities, rooted in a childhood of environmental education, skiing, and backpacking in the Pacific Northwest, are part of his goal to work toward a career in environmental policy to help ensure the environment as we know it will stay prime for adventure for all future generations.

The Team

Treasurer: Ronnie Fang
President: Caelan Wisont
Vice President: Yushan Tong
Secretary: Kyler Jobe
Representative: Tommy Taslim

Ronnie is a junior student in the Program on the Environment at UW. As a student studying the interactions between nature and human society, she thinks sustainability is one of the fields of study that needs more attention academically as well as practically.

Joining GSI is a great opportunity for her as a student to learn more about sustainability by supporting its projects. Ronnie is the treasurer and she manages the finance of the club, which helps to sustain and further the mission of the club.

Tommy is currently a Junior year student in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology Major, where he learns and discovers the mechanisms of how organelles and protein work in order to create the desired action.

He is interested in learning about the best way to produce methane gas from the methanogen, which includes learning about optimal temperature and type of food waste for the culture. His vision of sustainability is to be able to make use of greenhouse gases into an everyday use fuel, which will benefit both the planet and us.

Yushan is a senior student in the Program on the Environment and Psychology at UW. Yushan is interested in learning approaches to sustainability from diverse perspectives and developing the innovative methods to sustainability.

She is the vice president of GSI and her job is to reach out to different organizations and communities in order to generate new ideas to broaden the impacts of sustainability at UW.

Caelan Wisont is a sophomore going into mechanical engineering, with a keen enthusiasm for the environment and ensuring sustainability. He grew up on Whidbey Island, where he spent a large amount of time in nature, cultivating an immense respect and appreciation for the environment. Caelan is interested in engineering solutions to challenges like limited access to clean energy, water, and cooking fuels. He worked as an intern in 2017 for a startup company working on biogas, as a solution to toxic cooking fumes and became engaged in the effort to aid the developing world. After this internship experience he became one of the founding members of GSI in the hopes of continuing this aid.
