Food wastes contain numerous amount of nutrient and there is no reason to leave them rotting in the landfills. In addition, they produce 16% of total U.S. methane emission. GSI's biogas project utilizes the methane produced from food wastes, which is generated at UW, as the cooking fuel for our food trailer. This approach not only allows us to reduce UW campus greenhouse gas emission, also to support the local-sustainable food system. Our goal is to present our food trailer on Earth Day, 2018 on the Red Square at UW Seattle Campus. Click to learn more about the project.
